Natural Supplements Lower Blood Lipids |
According to research conducted by cardiologist Erminia M. Guarneri, M.D. published in the March 2006 edition of Obstetrics and Gynecology, there are several natural supplements useful for lowering blood lipids. These include soluble fiber, phytosterols, B vitamins, and niacin. According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consuming 2 to 10 mg per day of soluble fiber may lower total cholesterol by 15 to 18 percent. Sources include oats, psyllium, and pectin.
Phytosterols are substances produced by plants that impair cholesterol absorption. Dr Guarneri recommends two products to obtain necessary levels of phytosterols: CholestePure and UltraMeal Plus.
Deficiencies of B6, B12, and folic acid have been linked to mortality rates in patients with coronary artery disease. She recommends CardioB because it contains all three substances in one pill.
The article also states that regular use of niacin can lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, while raising levels of HDL cholesterol (the heart healthy kind). But it’s important to monitor liver function during treatment. If you have a family history of liver disease, severe gout, or peptic ulcer, you should not take niacin supplements.
These products are recommended by Dr. Guarneri and should not be taken before you discuss them with your physician.
